Ideas From The Video Below

This is an example of what a shot of the car straight on will look like. I will be having something similar to this at the beginning when i show the headlights turn on on each car with sound effects, although the shot will be more close up on the cars' headlights.

This picture of an eye really grabbed my attention in the video below. Although it is an extremely quick flash of this eye, i might decide to use this and get a picture of an eye from one of my actors. The eye represents someone watching so it goes well with the song as they are having races and could resemble one driver watching another.

I am considering having a female dancer like the one in these two screen grabs. I will be needing to film this part in front of a green screen in order to get a nice background. I will be using various lighting to add appeal. I like this part of the video because as shown in the screen grabs, the girls clothes change colour as she turns around. I wish to do something like this for my video. I also want to have a dancer because it gives my video a bit more depth as only cars will make it a bit boring.

Ideas for Camera Shots

This is the hill climb which takes place in Jersey every year. Here is a screen grab from a video of one of the cars from August this year. I want to do this with more than one car driving up the hill. The angle is good as you are able to see the car driving quite clearly.

Chosen Song - Rockstar Remix by N.E.R.D

Lyrics

yeah(4x)
uh
yeah
It's almost over now
It's almost over now
yeah
its almost over now
almost over now
You think the way you lives okay
You think posing
Will save the day
You think we don't see
That you're running
Better call your boys
'Cause I'm coming
[Chorus]
You can't be me
I'm a Rock Star
I'm rhyming on the top of a cop car
I'm a rebel and my .44 pops far
It's almost over now
It's almost over now
guess
You ain't heard that we swallow guys
It's too damn late to apologize
Will you see the mantle or will you see the skies
It's almost over now
It's almost over now
You think that you don't have to ever quit
You think that you can get away with it
You think the light won't be ever lit
It's almost over now
Almost over now
Something's on your chest
Better get it off
There'll be no one left when we set it off
We ain't gonna take it no more
Since
It's almost over now
Almost over now
You had plenty of time
There was no rush
But it was your dream to be like us
You're in dreamland so you don't care
And as you wait
we're standing there
You can't be me
I'm a Rock Star
I'm rhyming on the top of a cop car
I'm a rebel and my .44 pops far
It's almost over now
It's almost over now
i guess
You ain't heard that we swallow guys
It's too damn late to apologize
Will you see the mantle or will you see the skies
It's almost over now
It's almost over now
You think that you don't have to ever quit
You think that you can get away with it
You think the light won't be ever lit
It's almost over now
Almost over now
Something's on your chest
Better get it off
There'll be no one left when we set it off
We ain't gonna take it no more
Since
It's almost over now
Almost over now
You don't succeed cause you hesitate
You think we're fly
But we levitate
Just be yourself
Don't ask us why
'Cause if you don't we'll make you fly
You can't be me
I'm a Rock Star
I'm rhyming on the top of a cop car
I'm a rebel and my .44 pops far
It's almost over now
It's almost over now
i guess
You ain't heard that we swallow guys
It's too damn late to apologize
Will you see the mantle or will you see the skies
It's almost over now
It's almost over now
You think that you don't have to ever quit
You think that you can get away with it
You think the light won't be ever lit
It's almost over now
Almost over now
Something's on your chest
Better get it off
There'll be no one left when we set it off
We ain't gonna take it no more
Since
It's almost over now
Almost over now
You can't be me
I'm a Rock Star
I'm rhyming on the top of a cop car
I'm a rebel and my .44 pops far
It's almost over now
It's almost over now
i guess
You ain't heard that we swallow guys
It's too damn late to apologize
Will you see the mantle or will you see the skies
It's almost over now
almost over now
No one ever really dies
Do you believe that?
i guess
You ain't heard that we swallow guys
i guess
You ain't heard that we swallow guys
its almost over now
almost over now
almost over now
almost over now

Song for my music video

I have chosen Rockstar Remix - N.E.R.D to be the song for my music video. i have chosen this song as it is very fast and has the right rhythm for my music video. The beginning has jumps which i can use to my advantage etc...
This song also has good lyrics that work well with my story line as i have mentioned earlier.

Location & Props

Location - the music video will be set in many different parts of the island, not just one. Areas include

Jersey's avenue

Jersey's Hill Climb at Bouley Bay

other lanes located in Jersey

Albert Pier

Jersey War Tunnels

Props - The only props i will be needing are cars for my music video and a flag/something for miriam to throw to start off the race.

Costumes - i would like miriam to wear the following top, or something similar, in the music video. The reason for choosing this sort of top for her to wear is so that it shows she is a girl racer, starting off a race. this top gives her more character, thus showing the audience what role she is playing.

Actors - Damian Boshat
Miriam Perchard
Aaron Crowe
Claude Escorcio
Artur Martinho
Melanie Green

Ludacris - Act A Fool - Too Fast Too Furious

Ludacris - Act a Fool

whilst watching this music video, i got a few ideas for my own music video. Below, i have some screen grabs of what i like and why i like them.

This is a screen grab from Ludacris’ music video above. I like this medium close up of the person changing gear. I think this is a good way of transitioning between scenes and would like to use this in my production.

This close up of the speedometer showing the speed of the car is very affective and I am definitely going to use this in my piece. Like the gear changing, this is also a very good way to transition between scenes

This long shot of the cars stationary is good as it shows the audience everything that is there. I also like the lighting used in this screen grab, making the cars stand out. For my music video I am thinking to end with something similar to this or maybe with a red traffic light.

I like this shot as it gets a view of the car drifting sideways with smoke coming out from the exhaust/tyres. I think this an affective way of showing how fast the car is going and would like to maybe use this in my music video.

Main idea for my music video

camera goes underneath the cars and through the exhaust up into the engine then onto a wheel where they do a wheel spin. traffic light turns to green and miriam (girl) starts off the race by dropping something to the floor then they all speed off. and music starts. ( during the first bit we will have flashes of all the cars . good cars.
doing drifts.. handbreaks.. ton runs (camera on the speedometers... gear sticks.. climb up the tower and video the boy racers at albert pier ...
getting men on motorbikes doing wheelies and burn outs.

could also start with total darkness. then with each bang the lights of each car turn on. and then the music starts.

The song i have chosen has the words "Its almost over now". A friend of mine knows a policeman who could help with my music video. The Main story for my music video is cars driving fast and performing tricks. it would be good if i could get this policeman to pretend "chase" the other actors in their cars. the words "its almost over now" would fit in really well with this and make it have more of a story line.

Research Section Music Video

Diagetic and Non Diagetic sound -

Diagetic - sound effects e.g. of the revving of cars starting a race
the screeching of tyres - wheels spins

Non diagetic - the song i have chosen for my music video

Target Audience

i want an upbeat fast song for my music video so my target audience will be of the younger generation.
As my music video will include cars etc... the younger generation will feel more involved and will associate with the music video a lot more than the older generation

Research Section Music Video

I have researched existing trailers as i want a car theme for my music video. i have looked at the advertisement for Fast and the Furious Tokyo Drift and have found some camera shots i would like to include in my piece.

Bridge on the River Kwai

The representation of the British Soldier in “The Bridge on the River Kwai”

“Bridge on the River Kwai” tells a story of British soldiers who have been taken prisoner by the Japanese. The Japanese leader, Colonel Saito, orders the British, against the law, to construct a bridge over the Kwai River as part of a railroad that will link all Burma. The British soldiers, in this film, are represented in a very positive way, showing their commitment to being an army troop. There are many examples in the film which shows this.
Firstly, the British show their devotion to their country. This is shown at the beginning of the film where they march into the prison camp whistling “Colonel Boogie March” in unison. This shows how strong they are, even in the circumstances that they are in.
Despite being prisoners of war, Colonel Nicholson (the leader of the British troop), believes that he is somehow superior to his enemy (Japanese Colonel Saito) in intelligence and morality. After having an argument with Colonel Saito, Nicholson is sent to “the oven”, a metal sweatbox. After spending a long period of time in this “oven”, he is released to talk with the Japanese leader. Due to the conditions of the “oven”, the colonel is malnourished and extremely weak. Once released, he staggers towards the hut where Saito awaits. He does this without any help from his troops, and pushes one of the Japanese soldiers away, which shows his great deal of strength, and more importantly, pride. This gives the other British soldiers hope and makes them respect him even more.
This resulted in Saito giving the British troop a day of rest and once leaving Saito, all of the British soldiers were outside waiting for him. They ran over to him, cheered, and applauded him, which shows the great respect they have for him and what he has done. Meanwhile, Saito privately cried in shame at his loss of honor.
At one point in the film, there is a lack of man power working on the bridge and the British Colonel decided to help overcome this issue. He did this by going to the hospital and asking those able to work, to help. An emphasis on “asking” for help shows that the Colonel has respect for them, even though they are lower than him. Although the soldiers in the hospital are the Japanese’s men, the trust and friendship built with Saito, allows this to happen.
During their time spent in the prison camp, the British began to gain a lot of control over the Japanese even though they were prisoners of war. An example of this is where the British soldiers refused to work for the Japanese unless they were commanded by their own British Officers. This shows the loyalty and trust between the British soldiers and their respect for their own leaders.
Another example of the strength of the British soldiers is shown where the British Colonel says to one of the officers “Don’t you realise how important it is to show these people that they can’t break us, in body or in spirit.” and “One day the war will be over and I hope that the people who use this bridge in years to come will remember how it was built, and who built it. Not a gang of slaves, but soldiers, British soldiers, even in captivity. This shows that they do not want to be remembers as prisoners of war, but soldiers. Their pride and honor are very important to them.
This film portrays the British soldiers in a very positive way, and not in a negative way in the slightest. This film shows the respect, pride, honor and loyalty the soldiers have, proving them to be a very strong troop.
